If I recall correctly they did formally apologize. I do genuinely like the guys at Gizmodo and I enjoying their blog, its a personal thing. Some of friends can't stand it and prefer Engadget.
I personally hope that they're given a chance to prove that they can make tech journalism fun without going over the top. If they blow it this time, I fully support punishment.

Apple needs to start working on a new business model while the studios are still suing their customers and the TV boom is still on. If they dont they're going to be beaten overseas. Enough with the legal rhetoric damn it, evolve your business model or you'll lose.
Beaten overseas by who? Who is making it big selling TV shows overseas?
good lord, if anyone actually got through reading all this, can there be any doubt left that all consumers want is DRM-free content??? There's a simple rule that exists - the more complicated the DRM you put on your content, the less likely that people are going to buy it. Hence, people are downloading music and movies for free, and ripping Netflix DVDs to their hard drives to burn their own copies.
You can't put the genie back in the bottle. Until there's DRM-free movies and music for sale online, so-called pirated downloads will continue to dwarf legal downloads. End of story.
Wow, that's incredibly naive. People don't get free content because the free content is "simpler". It's because they're too cheap to pay. If people want no drm, they can just buy cd's and dvd's and rip them. People who download free content, or rip rented discs are just cheapskates who are stealing.
There IS DRM free music for sale online. And in contrast to your theory, people are still stealing it.
Whom are you kidding? Nobody cares that Fairplay's DRM is better than other DRM. Do you think it being "successful" (and that word ONLY applies comparing it to other pay services, not overall downloads) has anything to do with the fact that 70% of all mp3 players are ipods, and only work with the itms?
But if iTunes' DRM was annoying to users, it never would have made it to 70%. Users absolutely care about DRM. But they're not aware of it unless it's too restrictive or inconvenient - if you give them *bad* DRM they will totally notice it and hate it.

A few people have mentioned webcasts and things streamed to London. I live in the UK, can anyone clear things up, am I going to be able to watch the event on the net live (if so, where), or will I just have to make sense of the text scrolling up the screen on this site?

All the Windows 7 I use are campus installs, so since they're not configurable, I haven't really looked around the settings. Does Windows have virtual desktops yet?
No. Its coming in Windows 8.

Sorry, this idea is horrible. People are going to downrate posts because they disagree with someone's opinion, not because it's a bad post.
I can easily see the fanboys downrating anyone who mentions Microsoft, Android or any of Apple's competitors in a positive light.
I think you meant this can both ways. Some will mention Apple products and there are a select few who will vote negative....

- if you asked an iPad 2 speculator, it is $$$ and more $$$
- if you asked an iPad 2 user who want to buy one from shop, it is queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, queue up, disappointed, (endless)
- if you asked the Apple Online shop, it is "Ships: Currently unavailable"
- if you asked the retailed shop manager, "you need to buy this with a protected screen at USD70 and case at US60"
- if you asked the retailed shop staff, "No stock....but we have reserved for other customer, do you really want one urgently? Take it, with the crap accessories at USD100."

Your thinking too much about the worst side of things. Aren't you grateful they didnt steal umm... $10000?
Well, they did steal over $1000 worth of stuff. Thats a big deal in my book when I only make $10,000 a year and that I'm in college. I know what you are saying but its still crappy for someone to even steal $100 worth of stuff from you.

Hmm. Try contacting Microsoft, notify them that your 360 was stolen, and ask if they can do anything about tracking the IP received when your gamertag is signed on.
That is strange -- albeit fortunate -- that they only took your 360.
On the subject of strange, check this out. My friend was parked at a Taco Bell. He left his driver's door unlocked, went in to get something to go. He came out to find that his passenger side window was smashed. Someone had broken in, taken his stereo, but left the faceplate for the stereo IN THE PASSENGER SEAT.

Wow. It's clear you have no intention of learning anything. You just want to be right. Nice.
What should I be willing to learn? That some people feel with every inch of their being that they were put in the wrong body?
I fully understand that and I am not about to argue it. I believe they deserve every right any other person is entitled to. I believe they are born this way and it is not a choice.
So what am I hesitant to "learn"?

I was again expecting John Mayer being a huge Apple fan boy and all. I bet he reads MacRumors when he's not hooking up with Hollywood starlets and hanging out with rappers. ;)
P.S. Kanye West is a no talent ass-clown but at least he is trying to do something positive by calling Bush out.

This has to be one of the worst Macworld keynotes ever....and there were a couple of stinkers. I mean....where are the new MacBook Pros? Where is a new Mini? Where is an AppleTV with an OPTICAL DRIVE! Nowhere to be seen. What do we get? A new laptop where they charge us more and give us less. I mean...when was the last time Apple shipped a computer without Firewire??? Please! Hell...they should have saved the Mac Pro announcement for today, to add SOMETHING to the awful show. Maybe then my portfolio wouldn't have taken the dive it did. Come on, Steve, is this the best you can do? Where are these new Apple/Intel devices??? My biggest disappointment is the lack of Blu-Ray though. I mean, no new iPod? No new iPhone. I mean....I don't need anything HUGE, just some storage increases. Bad....bad bad bad.

P.S. The box surrounding the up/down buttons is baboon-ass ugly.
I agree. What browser are you using? IE at work has the ugly boxes you are describing, but Safari at home, doesn't. It looks MUCH better.

Think they will close the store this morning to update the laptop line??? or will they do it when they close the store during the live session?
Don't get your hopes up. This is an iTMS update/iPod update.

I don't know any medical staff that actually uses one on the job.
Quick! Alert the medical community that they should stop using their iPads since your anecdotal evidence proves they aren't actually using one. :)
OK, seriously, I think handwriting on the iPad would be a natural extension. No reason why that can't be done even by a third-party vendor using the port to hook into the iPad.
The iPad is now my preferred device and has been so for over a year. I don't understand people who can't see the point of it. I can't live without it now. If I had to choose only one device to live with, I would give up my laptop before I would give up my iPad.
